MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee police are looking for a thief who broke into a downtown Milwaukee apartment building and stole several packages in the lobby.

It happened Tuesday around 4:25 p.m. on the 1900 block of Knapp Street.

Surveillance video shows the suspect in the vestibule of the building, looking around, pretending to be on the phone and buzzing in a tenant. He then takes a screwdriver to open the door. He walks in, checks the manager's office, walks back to the lobby and takes the packages. He then leaves through the back door and then walks behind the building.

The suspect is believed to be connected to similar burglaries in the area.

The suspect is described as male, African American, mid 20's, 6'-6'2" tall, very short curled hair and about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a blue drawstring backpack.

The property owner is reminding residents to report any suspicious activity to police – and to never let anyone into the building you don’t know.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
