The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office has had several reports regarding scam phone calls from Ozaukee residents.

Officials say that a caller identifies themself as an employee of the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office and threatens the call recipient there is a warrant for their arrest. The caller then instructs the victim to transfer money via gift cards to avoid being arrested.

The Sheriff's Office would like to remind the public that it does not take payment for valid arrests over the phone.

No law enforcement will ever request you pay in gift cards, Visa cards or anything similar.

If you receive a call similar to this hang up immediately and call the actual agency number, not the number that called you.
