MILWAUKEE -- Some “precious” cargo came into the Port of Milwaukee on Sunday morning.
Sixteen large fermentation tanks are headed to New Glarus Brewing.
The tanks were manufactured in and shipped from Germany. Each tank holds more than 18,000 gallons, significantly increasing the brewing capacity at New Glarus.
“There are not many places that manufacture tanks like this and the domestic manufactures here in the United States are really booked up from the explosion of the craft brewing industry so it's not unusual to see tanks come through here from Europe,”said Jeff Fleming with the Port of Milwaukee.
New Glarus Brewing Company is ranked as the sixteenth largest craft brewer in the country.
