OSHKOSH (NBC 26) -- Oshkosh Police say a retired Oshkosh Police Department captain was the victim of a fatal stabbing on Sunday.

The 67-year-old man is identified as Jay Puestohl. Police said he retired from the Oshkosh Police Department as the Captain of the Investigative Services Bureau in 2008, after 32 years with the Oshkosh Police Department.

Police said an autopsy was performed yesterday by the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A homicide was reported Sunday night on the 1200 block of Waugoo Avenue. The department says it happened around 4 p.m. when officers heard of a disturbance with a weapon.

They say Puestohl suffered a stab wound. He was taken to the hospital and later died. A woman sustained minor injuries.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man who faces charges of first degree homicide.

They say this was an isolated incident. All three knew each other.
