The operators of Onyx Social Club and Restaurant have voluntarily surrendered their alcohol and entertainment licenses Monday, following a request by Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton to do so.
The club, located at 3120 W. Villard Ave., was licensed by the City of Milwaukee to serve food, alcohol, and provide entertainment.
President Hamilton says Onyx has been a problem for residents living nearby and for patrons.
“Licenses to operate an establishment in the City of Milwaukee are a privilege, and my goal is to maintain balance and cohesiveness by ensuring that businesses abide by very clear standards of safety, health, and order in the neighborhood,” President Hamilton said.
