BEAVER DAM — One person is dead and a city employee was injured in a head-on car crash Friday morning on State Highway 33 between County Highway A and Thompson Road, according to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.

First responders removed a male driver who was trapped in his vehicle and began life-saving procedures. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a waiting medical helicopter.

The driver of the other vehicle, a city employee, was transported with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 33 was closed for a period of time Friday as the crash was investigated.

No names are being released at this time.

Washington County Administrator Josh Schoemann said the city employee involved in the crash was on county business.

"Washington County is following employment relations protocols and fully cooperating with the law enforcement investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved victims and families."

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.
