SOMERS — A person is dead after crashing into a semi-truck while fleeing from a deputy in Kenosha County.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said a deputy was attempting to make a traffic stop in the 4300 block of Highway E just after 7 a.m. on Thursday on a Ford Explorer that almost hit his squad car.

As the deputy approached the suspect's vehicle, the driver fled westbound on Highway E and crashed into a semi-truck that was traveling southbound on Green Bay Road.

The driver of the Explorer was the sole occupant of the vehicle and died on the scene.
Another SUV was hit by debris from the crash.

No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the Explorer driver is being withheld at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
