OCONOMOWOC — UPDATE: A Delafield man was killed in a crash that shut down Interstate 94 near Oconomowoc on Friday morning.
Investigators said a 36-year-old man from Lake Mills was driving a car and crossed the median, where he reportedly hit a truck.
The truck was driven by 64-year-old Michael Edwards of Delafield, who died due to his injuries.
The 36-year-old was flown to the hospital with serious injuries.
PREVIOUS STORY: One person has died and one person was injured in a crash that happened about 9:40 a.m. Friday on Interstate 94 near Wisconsin 67.
A vehicle traveling eastbound reportedly struck a vehicle traveling westbound, according to state troopers. One of the vehicles caught on fire and was handled by fire personnel.
Several individuals were pinned inside of the vehicles, according to state troopers.
Rescue personnel were on scene and extricated patients, who were brought to a local hospital.
The reason of the crash is unknown, and the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit (TRU) continues to investigate.
No names of victims will be released now.
All westbound lanes are closed on I-94 and mile marker 280. Eastbound lanes also are experiencing delays.
Backups are in excess of 4 miles, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
