A Milwaukee Police sergeant deployed spike strips during a vehicle pursuit around 2 a.m. Friday.
MPD squads observed a vehicle traveling westbound at high speeds on West Center Street and disregard a red light.
Officers activated emergency lights and sirens near 35th and Center Street, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.
The driver of the vehicle continued fleeing, and that's when the police sergeant deployed spike strips, deflating the rear passenger tire of the vehicle.
The driver then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot near Capitol and Bartlett.
A fight ensued, but officers were eventually able to take the driver into custody.
A viewer tweeted this video to us of the aftermath of the crash:
@tmj4 Just happened, car chase on Capitol. About 10-12 police cars chasing this vehicle into Shorewood, just past your HQ. Car crashed into snow right at the Post Office. Police say they find assault rounds in vehicle on the video... I was just walking home and saw it 🤷🏾♂️ pic.twitter.com/kGoA9RZHvI
