Oak Creek Mayor Dan Bukiewicz and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele will be in attendance, along with local officials and IKEA representatives at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 29 at the site of the future store, according to a news release.
The 291,000-square-foot Swedish furniture store is expected to open in the summer of 2018. The store will sit on 29 acres near the corner of I-94 and Drexel Avenue.
In addition to the store, the future IKEA store will include three model home interiors, 50 room settings, a children’s play area and a 300-seat restaurant (with a menu including Swedish meatballs).
