Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Deputies told TODAY’S TMJ4 one person was arrested after running from the scene of an accident on I-94 near Drexel.
The driver charged was wanted on two bench warrants. One from Milwaukee County for operating while revoked and another from Marathon County for failure to appear in court.
The driver was charged with knowingly driving after revocation and causing great bodily harm, a Class I Felony.
The driver of the motorcycle was sent to a nearby hospital. People in a neighboring area administered CPR and other medical attention immediately after the crash.
“To live with that. To have that on your conscience. It’s really disappointing to see that happen,” said Amit Salvi, one of the neighbors who helped stranded drivers following the accident.
People were stuck on the road for hours following the accident, which happened just behind Wynona Drive. People in that neighborhood also offered food, restrooms and water for those waiting to leave the crash scene.
“Yesterday, we realized these cars were stuck for hours and hours over dinnertime so we carried out whatever we can scramble up and cases full of water,” Erin Posig said.
Posig told TODAY’S TMJ4 she was happy to see people in her neighborhood coming together for the greater good following the accident.
