WEST ALLIS — Families at Aurora Health Care in West Allis are getting into the Halloween spirit by dressing up their NICU babies for a costume contest.

Sixteen babies will be competing for the best costume. The newborns were dressed in a wide variety of costumes from mermaids, gladiators to a little candy corn.

Amber Buckley has been in the hospital with her daughter Luna since Sept. 5. She took her two boys trick-or-treating this past weekend but was heartbroken her daughter couldn't come.

She said having a special day where she can dress up her daughter while in the hospital, brings a sense of normalcy during this difficult time.

"The NICU here they are all so great! They try to take care of not just the babies but the whole family, so it's been a really treat experience," said Buckley.

The photos of the babies will be posted to Aurora's Facebook page. You can vote on the best costume until this Thursday.
