We’re getting our first in-depth look at what’s expected to be Milwaukee’s next high rise.
The Couture is a 440-story building proposed for the corner of Michigan Street and Lincoln Memorial Drive. It was first proposed back in 2012, but there have been a series of delays.
Barrett-Lo Visionary Development released an animated video showing what the final product will look like. It includes more than 300 apartments, a rooftop pool, restaurants, shops, a grocery store, a pedestrian bridge to the lakefront, a park, and a concourse for the Milwaukee Streetcar.
The video renderings of the Couture come one week after the developer got approval from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and secured some important funding.
The next step is to finalize the construction timeline. Before the foundation can be poured, the city has to rebuild a sewer pipe that runs underneath the site. The base of the building and streetcar station are expected to be completed by late 2020.
