MILWAUKEE — Lakefront Brewery has added a new form of outdoor dining with its seasonal Hop Houses, available all winter long.

All summer long, we were asked to eat outdoors when possible due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, now that it's getting colder, that's not really an option.

However, Lakefront Brewery has made it a little bit easier to dine outside, even during the winter months. They have just added Hop Houses, mini-greenhouses that can seat 6-8 people out on the riverwalk.

The riverwalk patio now has five hop houses that you can reserve for 90 minutes.

These unique Hop Houses will still be used to grow vegetables and herbs during warmer months, but they have been transformed into decorated, cozy, and relaxing private dining experiences for the winter, Lakefront Brewery explained in a press release Tuesday.

In order to take advantage of the Hop Houses, you have to make a reservation and pay a rental fee. There is also a food and beverage minimum that you must meet during your visit.

Lakefront Brewery said their Executive Chef, Kristin Hueneke, has created a special preorder menu with food and drink packages to help you reach that minimum. You can add those packages to your reservation when you're booking.

Visitors will also be able to order off the normal food and drink menu when at Lakefront Brewery by just scanning the QR code in your Hop House.

"We wanted to build something sturdy and high quality to withstand the harsh winter weather. With some help, I actually put them together myself, complete with wood flooring”, Lakefront’s Founder and President Russ Klisch said.

Reservations for the Hop Houses are available from Dec. 1 through the end of the month. January reservations will be available when the Brewery determines its 2021 COVID-19 guidelines.
