NEW BERLIN -- The New Berlin Police Department granted a former Milwaukee Police Officer's birthday wish over the weekend.
All Leonard Lalko wanted for his birthday was to celebrate with his police comrades and the New Berlin K-9 Unit. The police department made it all happen with a party at the Heritage at Deer Creek Senior Living Community where Lalko lives.
Chirs Lalko, the 88-year-old's son, says the police bond is something that cannot be broken.
"It's a family that lasts for life...and beyond," Lalko said. "The support is always there."
The party also raised more than $1,000 for the New Berlin K-9 unit.
