Nearly 20 families in Germantown woke up Tuesday morning to find their tires slashed.

Steve Spittlemeister was about to leave for work when he noticed his daughter's car had a flat. Then he looked down the street.

"Two flat tires, over here two flat tires. House over flat tire, another house over flat tire. Then I went and drove around, everywhere has a flat tire," said Spittlemeister.

At least 17 different reports have come into the Germantown Police Department. They say sometime overnight someone drove around a subdivision just south of Donges Bay and Division Roads and started slashing.

"They punctured the passenger side of the truck right here and right there. And then my wife's drivers side, both front and back," said Brian Borchardt.

Julie Smith says her husband's car got hit.

"It was two sliced tires," said Smith.

Most people said they could not just replace one tire, they also had to replace the one on the opposite side as well. It means the repair costs really added up.

Spittlemeister said it cost him around $200, the Smiths said their bill was $300, and the Borchardts are paying nearly $1,500 in repairs to two vehicles. But that was not all.

"He had to cancel appointments, couldn't go to work," said Smith.

That's why they say if this was just some teens thinking it's a joke, no one is laughing.

"They just cost a lot of people a lot of money for whatever reason," said Smith.

Police say they are looking for anyone who might have seen anything suspicious. Right now, they are still looking for suspects.
