MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Milwaukee's Sherman Park neighborhood. It happened early Sunday morning near 41st and Auer.

"I knew how they had it taped off and blocked off that somebody was murdered," Robert said.

Robert has lived in Milwaukee for 48 years, but he's asked TODAY'S TMJ4 not to disclose his last name. Robert said he was spending the night with a friend when the shooting happened.

"I just happened to wake up at like 3:40 in the morning," Robert said."I seen flashing lights through my window."

It happened around 2:30 a.m. When police arrived they said 56-year-old Stanley Smith lying was in the middle of the street after being shot and killed outside of his home.

"It's something all the time over here,"  Tammi Kurtzweil said.

Tammi Kurtzweil is a mother of four and lives just steps away from where the deadly shooting happened. Kurtzweil said although she's only lived in the area for a couple of years, as soon as her lease is up she's moving out to get away from some of the crime.

"There's been a lot more happening right in this area that kind of makes it unnerving to stay living here," Kurtzweil said.

Currently, police are investigating a few active leads, but no arrests have been made at this time.
