GERMANTOWN, WI - Luminaries and lights, an annual holiday favorite returns to Germantown Sunday, Dec. 2.

“It’s very heartwarming and like I said overwhelming,” Lisa Wegner, Luminary Night coordinator, said.

Since 1993 more than 10,000 cars have passed through Wegner's subdivision and with about four people per car that’s 40, 000 people who’ve participated in the night of lights.

“[The night of] it’s really quiet out here, it’s just getting dark, we’re preparing and then all of a sudden the cars come and they don’t stop,” Wegner said.

The Windsong neighborhood association sponsors the night bringing the community together —while encouraging others to give back —all of the food and monetary donations visitors are asked to bring Sunday to support a local Germantown food pantry.

To date, the group has collected and donated more than 30,000 lbs of food $25,000 in monetary donations.

Luminary night is from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Sunday in the Windsong subdivision --donations of food and money are encouraged.
