NORTH CHICAGO — The Naval Station Great Lakes remains on lockdown, even after the driver and unknown vehicle were located.
The station said they were searching for a gate runner Friday morning. Officials said a black Toyota Camry made an unauthorized entry into one of the gates. The driver did not follow the directions of the gate sentry. The main side of the base was locked down and force protection measures were initiated.
The vehicle was found at 9:30 a.m. and the driver was located shortly after. The driver is an employee at the base who had authorized access.
No injuries were reported.
