MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee Public Schools elementary teacher received a special surprise Wednesday morning.
MPS and the Marcus Center for Performing Arts honored Ms. Connie Michaud for her long-standing support of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.
She teaches at Fairview Elementary and has been part of the MLK program for 31 years. She said loves teaching Dr. King's message to her students.
"This group has shown, without any Dr. King's teachings, they have shown from themselves how compassionate, how understanding and how thoughtful of others they are," Michaud said. "To teach his message to this group of particular students has been such a natural fit."
Her students have frequently submitted contest-winning entries over the years.
This year will mark the 32nd Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday celebration in Milwaukee.
