Some Milwaukee police officers are helping local families have a happy Thanksgiving.
District Seven officers, along with several religious organizations, went door-to-door in a north Milwaukee neighborhood on Tuesday, handing out Thanksgiving baskets, which included "a whole chicken and all the fixins for a Thanksgiving Dinner."
It's just one of the ways they're giving back to the community.
"This past Saturday, we had a food dinner that we participated with Sherman Park Lutheran Church to serve this area and the greater area with a hot meal," said Captain Jutiki Jackson. "So after that we had food left over and decided to package it up and handed out to people we think could use a meal and extra food for the holidays."
This was part of the Adopt-a-Block initiative, as police officers and pastors help build a stronger community.
