Willie Jones, 52, has been charged after shooting and killing his "on-again, off-again girlfriend" in a Walgreens parking lot, according to a criminal complaint.

Police say they were alerted of a shooting about 2:10 p.m. at a Walgreens near 27th and North on May 5. Once they arrived, they saw a man, Jones, standing near a woman who was lying on the ground.

An officer attempted to approach Jones and Jones said, "Hey, you're going to have to f---ing kill me." The officer then noticed a handgun in Jones' hand and returned to his squad for safety.

According to a criminal complaint, Jones then started "pivoting" the handgun around and the officer on the scene heard a popping sound, so he fired his gun at Jones.

Jones fell to the ground and the officer then arrested him.

In interviews with police a witness who was with the woman found lying on the ground said she was dropping her off at the Walgreens, where she worked as a pharmacy tech.

She said once the woman exited her vehicle to go into the store, Jones came out from behind a pillar and started shooting her, according to the criminal complaint.

This woman also said Jones was her friend's ex-boyfriend.

The Milwaukee Fire Department attempted to perform life-saving measures on the woman but determined that she had died. She was then taken the the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner where it was determined that she died from four different gunshot wounds: one behind her ear on the left side of her head, one in front of her ear on the left side of her head, one inside her right foot and one in her lower left back.

Jones has been charged with first degree intentional homicide for which he faces life in prison if convicted.
