MILWAUKEE — A family who lost their mom last Mother’s Day is turning that pain into a way to raise money for others.
On Mother's Day 2018, Peggy Kent passed away after a battle with renal cancer. Her son, Christopher Kent decided to remember Peggy in a positive way this Mother’s Day.
"This ride is a special way that I can feel her in us," Kent said.
Kent formed Mother’s Day Milers. Over the next six months, Mother’s Day Milers plans to ride 4,000 miles on bikes to raise $4,000 through donations for rural families facing cancer.
The money raised will help Kathy’s house, an organization that families who have to travel for medical attention, like Patricia.
Patricia is from Indiana but her husband is getting care in Milwaukee for his pancreatic cancer.
“Kathy’s house has been our home away from home,” Patricia said.
Mothers Day’s Milers donations will help with meals, transportation and lost wages for those traveling with loved ones so they can focus on their loved one and not have extra worries.
While Christopher and his brother do the physical miles you can help by being a virtual rider.
“Donate to support our ride and then follow along on our virtual ride hub,” Kent said.
You can follow the virtual ride hub on the group’s website.
