An Oklahoma woman has been charged with child abuse and neglect in Milwaukee, according to court documents.
On May 7th, Milwaukee County courts charged Alisha Newman of two felonies carrying a maximum sentence of 27 and a half years
Her 10-year-old daughter was hospitalized for 21 days over a five-week period for severe infections. After examinations by the medical director of pediatric hospital medicine for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, doctors determined that Newman’s daughter was misdiagnosed on multiple occasions which led to medical procedures that could have endangered the child’s life.
Her daughter, known as KH, was given a pacemaker when she was 5-months-old. Multiple doctors reports in various states showed that KH’s heart was healthy and a pacemaker may not have been necessary.
KH underwent multiple surgeries for this. Court documents said that Newman claimed her daughter was experiencing various medical issues. Doctors records show that many of those illnesses were nonexistent.
