MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police are investigating a non-fatal shooting that happened Friday night.

The family identified the victim as 40-year-old Tori Jones. Her mother, Diane Roberson, said Jones was shot nine times while sitting in her van outside a relatives home.

“My grandchildren said that they seen this guy come out the alley of where my granddaughter lives, and he approached the van," Diane Roberson said.

According to Roberson, her daughter was sitting on the passenger side of the van when she was shot. Roberson said doctors were able to remove eight bullets, but one still remains.
Jones was with three of her five children and her grandchild when the shooting happened, but according to Roberson, the children ducked down in the backseat and did not sustain any physical injuries.

“They haven't really said much, but i see in their face and in their eyes the sadness," Roberson said. "But still, at the same time, [they're] happy that their mother is still here [as] i am also."

Roberson said her daughter moved with her children from Chicago several years ago to get away from violence, but now violence is something she questions if she and her family can escape.
"You think you’re safe when you move from one bad place," Roberson said. "You think you’re safe moving to another place and then stuff like this happens. It hits your doorstep."

The family is offering a $2500 reward to anyone who has information that may lead to an arrest.

According to police, the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation. MPD continues to seek suspect(s), anyone with information is asked to call police.
