ELM GROVE, Wis. — Five teenage suspects, all from Milwaukee, were taken into custody after reportedly attempting to burglarize a home in the 2000 block of Cloverhill Road, the Elm Grove Police Department said Monday in a news release.

At 11:55 p.m. Saturday, a homeowner heard pounding at the front and back of her residence. When she walked to the front door, the homeowner noticed the front door had been kicked in, and a subject reportedly was pointing a firearm into the residence.

The subjects fled the area after being confronted and left in a vehicle that was parked nearby.

Neighboring agencies found the suspects in the vehicle, which eventually crashed in Menomonee Falls. The teen suspects, ages 15, 16, 16, 17 and 19, were taken into custody, and one firearm reportedly was recovered.

The vehicle was determined to have been stolen in a burglary in a different jurisdiction, police said.

The three juveniles were referred to the Juvenile District Attorney's Office, and the two adults were referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office, all for attempted burglary while armed.

This investigation is ongoing.
