Anita Zeidler, a Milwaukee activist and daughter of former Mayor Frank Zeidler, passed away Monday at the age of 73.

Zeidler was volunteering for a local organization, selling t-shirts at Laborfest on the Summerfest grounds Monday.

She told a co-worker and her sister that she didn’t feel well before she collapsed. She later died at St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Zeidler retired from UWMafter 25 years of teaching in the Department of Educational Psychology.

Her father was the city’s third and last socialist mayor elected in Milwaukee. Zeidler herself has served in a number of capacities around Milwaukee, including on the United Nations Association-Greater Milwaukee as well as with the Milwaukee Mayor’s Committee for the United Nations.

Zeidler retired from UWM after 25 years of teaching in the Department of Educational Psychology.

She spoke with TODAY'S TMJ4'S Charles Benson about her socialist father's beliefs during the 2016 election.
