MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee's new streetcar, The Hop, has been a big hit since its grand opening on November 2, averaging over 2,000 riders per day.
According to our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal, the streetcar is averaging 2,196 riders per day. Its best day came on Saturday, Nov. 17 when it had a total of 3,806 passengers.
A big reason for The Hop's popularity is that it is completely free for the entire first year of running.
The city has a pending application to the U.S. Department of Transportation for a federal grant to build the next extension to the Fiserv Forum along Vel R. Phillips Avenue.
