Milwaukee streetcar construction temporarily delayed for summer traffic

Posted

Construction on the Milwaukee streetcar at St. Paul Avenue will stop until the fall, and all lanes of traffic will reopen during Summerfest.

Work began in the spring and tracks have been laid on additional streets in various phases to keep as many lanes open as possible.

“We have temporarily halted track work on W. St. Paul Ave. and reopened all lanes in both directions to traffic during Summerfest,”  said Public Works Commissioner Ghassan Korban. “Motorists should feel free to drive in the lanes with the new streetcar tracks – our system is designed for cars and streetcars to share traffic lanes.”

Construction with lane closures is underway on North Broadway between East Clybourn and East Kilbourn Avenues.
