MILWAUKEE-- It's the first full day of summer in Milwaukee. Across the area, locals are outside, enjoying a warm and sunny afternoon.
"We're going for a bike ride and a run, and then having a picnic this afternoon," said Samantha Peterka, who was out for a stroll in Whitefish Bay with her two daughters.
She said she always looks forward to summer in Milwaukee.
"It's great. There's so many things to do with the kids, because we're so close to the lake," Peterka said. "We'll be going to different parks Downtown and down to the lakefront."
Tavion Groves, who was walking to work Wednesday morning, said he too was enjoying the summer temperatures.
"It feels pretty good, because I feel like this was a long, harsh winter," Groves said. "I'm working the rest of the week, but I'm pretty sure after that I'll take a dip in the pool."
Closer to the lakefront, the workers at Wheel Fun Rentals in Veterans Park are expecting a busy day.
The business rents out pedal boats, kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddle boards (SUP).
"Especially on a nice day like today, we'll probably see a lot of people out here," said Alex Sayles, of Wheel Fun Rentals.
"It's fun just talking to people, helping them out, because you're helping someone else enjoy their day," Sayles said. "So it's always a good time."
