Milwaukee police officer, suspect exchange gunfire after police chase

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are conducting a reckless endangerment of safety investigation after an officer and suspect exchanged gunfire Sunday afternoon. 

The incident happened in the 2400 block of North 36th Street on Sunday, May 20, 2018, just before 1 p.m.

Police say they were in pursuit of a reckless vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle exited, fled on foot and then shot at officers. A police officer returned fire and afterwards took the adult male suspect into custody.

According to police, neither the officer or suspect were wounded. 

The investigation of this incident is ongoing.
