A Milwaukee police officer was accidentally shot by another officer Thursday night while responding to a report of a fight on the city’s north side.
According to a news release from Milwaukee police, “several vicious dogs” connected to the home they were investigating charged the officers while they were on the scene.
Officers say they were unable to control the dogs without using lethal force and one officer fired at them, accidentally hitting the other officer.
Police say the officer who was shot sustained non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at the hospital.
The officer who fired the shot will be placed on administrative duty as per police policy.
