Milwaukee police chase ends in crash on Capitol Drive

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police became involved in a vehicle pursuit after attempting to conduct a traffic stop on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at approximately 9:50 p.m., on the 7600 block of W. Silver Spring Drive.

Police say officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle that was operating without any registration plates and was driving without its lights on, but the driver refused to stop and fled the scene.

The pursuit ended after the vehicle ran a stop sign and crashed into two other vehicles on the 6200 block of W. Capitol Drive.

The driver of the striking vehicle, a 21-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local hospital and then arrested.

The two passengers of the striking vehicle, a 21-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The 21-year-old woman was arrested.

The drivers of the other vehicles, a 29-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they recovered a gun and drugs after the incident.

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days.
