A janitor at Lake Country School in Hartland, Wisconsin is among the top 10 finalists in a nationwide contest for "Janitor of the Year."

Dennis "Doc" Stadler has been a janitor at Lake Country School for 34 years and now has a chance to win himself $5,000 cash and $5,000 worth of Cintas and Rubbermaid Commercial products for the elementary school.

The "Janitor of the Year" contest is put on by Cintas Corporation and is a chance to recognize janitors who make significant impacts on their schools.

Doc was one of the small handful chosen out of over 3,200 nominations.

Jillian Bauer, Marketing Manager of Cintas said, “These 10 janitors stuck out not only because they do their job exceedingly well, but because they have left a positive and lasting impact on their schools. These finalists redefine what it means to be a school janitor.”

Doc has gone beyond expectations by doing more than required of him and by establishing meaningful relationships. From diving into dumpsters to find a retainer to taking a Red Cross class in order to mentor a student with diabetes, Doc has earned his spot as a finalist.

As written in the press release, "Doc Stadler isn’t just a janitor, he’s the backbone of Lake Country School."

Voting for the 10 finalists is open to the public from March 19 until April 20. The janitor with the most votes will win the contest.
