MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee hotels and restaurants are pitching in to make sure first responders are well fed and have a place to stay when they’re in town for fallen Milwaukee Police Officer Michael Michalski’s funeral next week.

The handful of businesses say they’re touched by this tragedy and want to show support. The hospitality is for all visiting law enforcement officers and first responders.  The several hotels and restaurants are offering discounted rates.

John Cloutier with Mo’s Irish Pub says they needed to do something.

“We’re just overwhelmed with the feeling of responsibility and they take of us,” Cloutier said. “This is our little way of giving back.”

Jessica Janicki, with Johnny V’s Classic Cafe says some of their daily customers are first responders and this was the right thing to do.

“I’ve worked with this restaurant for over 15 years and the family in general just likes to give help to those in the area. We like to help out with the local fire departments, any responders in the area just to show our support,” she said.
