MILWAUKEE –  A 27-year-old Greenfield man died after he was struck while standing outside his disabled vehicle on a Milwaukee freeway Saturday night.

It happened just after 9 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-43/94 -- just north of Holt Avenue.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, the man was putting gas into his disabled vehicle when he was struck by the car.

The Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the striking vehicle stopped in the left distress lane and ran across all lanes of traffic to rush to the aid of the person he struck. A Good Samaritan attempted to give CPR until deputies and Milwaukee Fire Department personnel arrived on scene to continue life-saving measures.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a Milwaukee Fire Department paramedic base doctor, and was identified as Angelo L. Quin, age 27, of Greenfield.

The victim’s vehicle sustained driver side damage, but the two occupants, a 58-year-old woman and a 6-year-old child, were not injured.

The Sheriff’s Office says the 30-year-old driver of the striking vehicle was not injured and gave a voluntary blood draw. He showed no signs of impairment.

The crash forced Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputies to close all southbound lanes of Interstate 43/94 at Becher Street for several hours.
