A Milwaukee fire fighter is recovering after being injured fighting a Monday night fire.

It happened near the intersection of 24th Place and Locust Street.

The injured firefighter hurt his knee while fighting the fire, but is expected to be okay.
The fire broke out inside a vacant home on the first floor, but quickly spread to a nearby duplex. Firefighters evacuated six people in that duplex.

Milwaukee Fire Department Chief Lipski  says the caller who reported the fire gave the wrong address, but firefighters quickly corrected the mistake.

No word on how much damage was caused but no people living in the next door duplex were injured.

The Red Cross was on the scene overnight assisting those families

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
