A rhino that called the Milwaukee County Zoo home for 26 years has been euthanized, zoo officials announced Wednesday.
Brewster, a 33-year-old southern black rhino, was put down on March 19 due to a health condition.
Officials said Brewster stopped eating and was showing signs of abdominal distress. Despite treatment, they said his condition was not improving.
Brewster came to the Milwaukee County Zoo from Zimbabwe in 1989. He is survived by his companion Mimi and three calves.
