Milwaukee County is getting ready to sue local contractors over work done at the Milwaukee County Zoo.

According to our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal, the county is planning to sue architecture firm Hammel Green and Abrahamson Inc. (HGA) and Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services Inc. for work done on the elephant exhibit.

The county is seeking $250,000 in damages for additional costs they claim came from errors in the design and construction of the exhibit. Those errors including “visible cracking” in a retaining wall that cost $90,000 to repair and faulty reinforcing bar cages that cost $135,000 to rectify.

The entire project cost $16 million.
