MILWAUKEE — A deputy is being praised for pulling a man off a bridge earlier this year.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says on Saturday, March 16th, a man stopped his car on I-43 northbound, got out of his car, and straddled the wall on the High Rise Bridge.

Deputy Ryan Kearns tried talking with the man, but there was a language barrier, as the man spoke Spanish. When the man tried to hand over his phone, Deputy Kearns grabbed his arm and pulled him off the wall.

"Thank you, Deputy Kearns for your dedication to public safety," the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office wrote in a Facebook post. "We salute you and your act of courage."
