MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department rescued a man from the Hoan bridge Sunday night.
Deputies say they responded to the scene around 10:49 p.m. when they noticed a vehicle parked on the bridge.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the vehicle was unoccupied and the driver was sitting on the bridge threatening to jump.
Deputies began to speak with the man and after nine hours of negotiations, the deputies were able to get the man down from the bridge and back to safety.
The man then cooperated with first responders and was conveyed for evaluation.
The incident forced deputies to close down north and southbound lanes of I-794 for several hours.
The Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee Fire Department, Coast Guard, and DNR all assisted with the incident.
