MILWAUKEE– Milwaukee County Clerk George L. Christenson is joining Circuit Court Judges and Commissioners in welcoming couples who are getting married on Valentine’s Day at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

“Each year the County Clerk’s Office looks forward to this event and it seems that we will set a record this year as we have more than 50 couples signed up with our office to get married at the Courthouse,” Christenson said.  “We even have one international couple as well as one couple coming from out of state to get married right here in Milwaukee,” Christenson added.  Local media is invited and in the past has widely covered this joyous event.
The ceremonies will be performed throughout the day by Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judges and Court Commissioners who volunteered to preside over wedding ceremonies.  Those couples who haven’t already applied for a marriage license may still do so by requesting a waiver of the seven day waiting period.  The waiver costs $25.00, in addition to the standard marriage license fee of $110.00.  The cost of the marriage ceremony is $100.00.

Milwaukee County residents may obtain their marriage license at the County Clerk’s Office, located at the Milwaukee County Courthouse in Room 105 (901 N. 9th Street), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Additional details on how to obtain a marriage license are listed on the County Clerk’s website.
