The objective is clear and straight-forward. Beat Bobby Flay. Doing it is where it gets tricky.

Milwaukee chef Dan Jacobs gets his opportunity in an episode of the popular Food Network show scheduled to air Sunday, Aug. 16, at 9 p.m. central time.

Jacobs has been a factor in the Milwaukee food scene for almost a decade.

He collaborated with chef Dan Van Rite to open DanDan in 2016, a restaurant that strives to bring chef-driven Chinese food with a Midwestern sensibility to customers, according to DanDan's website.

The duo also opened a fine dining restaurant and chef’s table concept, EsterEv, inside DanDan later that year, which offers a globally influenced 10-course pre-fixed menu that changes weekly, the website says.

After studying and learning his craft in Chicago, Jacobs moved to Milwaukee in 2011. He was a chef at Roots, Wolf Peach and Odd Duck before opening DanDan.

In the episode description on the network's website, it says "Food Network's Jet Tila and Chef Carla Hall are hoping to get sweet revenge over Bobby Flay. They bring in Asian food specialists Chef Dan Jacobs and Chef Tony Nguyen to dodge Bobby's curveballs and take home a win."

In the shows, contestants compete against Flay, with other chefs judging whose dish is best, in taste and presentation.
