Amanda C. Peterson has spent more than 20 years marketing and branding companies such as the tech giant Google.
"It's this huge collaborative environment where people don't know what they can't accomplish so they do really amazing things," Peterson said.

Now she has a new role: director of marketing and communications for the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Peterson's husband is from Milwaukee and she herself went to Marquette, so this is a homecoming of sorts. She is excited to market a world-class museum like the Milwaukee Art Museum.
"It's really about letting people find themselves within the museum as opposed to the museum being a big, imposing institution," she said.
And the next time you go to the museum, Peterson suggests you check out one of her favorite pieces. It's an Adam and Eve with a surprising reveal.
"The guy commissioned it,” she said. “He wanted Adam and Eve and wanted a picture of his dog and he couldn't afford two paintings. So the dog had been painted over for decades, maybe even 100 years, and the preservation revealed this dog."
Peterson began her role at the Milwaukee Art Museum July 10.
