A Wisconsin man was reportedly the pilot of a plane that went down in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan Friday.
The Mackinac County Sheriff said in a news release the Wisconsin man was the only person aboard the plane that went down around 9:49 p.m. Friday.
The pilot took off from Mackinac County Airport in St. Ignace. Witnesses reported that the plane was flying low, and they heard the impact.
The plane reportedly crashed in Horseshoe Bay of Lake Huron. The Coast Guard and the Mackinac Marine Rescue searched the lake through the night Friday into Saturday morning.
Debris was found, but teams are still searching for the man.
The man’s identity will not be released until his family is notified.
