MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Mexico's secretary of foreign relations marked a milestone 20 years in the making.

The 50th Mexican Consulate in the U.S. opened Tuesday in Milwaukee.

More than 100,000 jobs in Wisconsin directly depend on Mexican trade right now.

Mexico's foreign relations secretary did not mention Donald Trump by name, but the presidential candidate was certainly part of the dialogue.

"It's a reminder of the possibilities brought by understanding and solidarity. For facts speak against stereotypes, history against bigotry, cooperation against xenophobia," said Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas, Mexico's secretary of foreign relations.

"It's more important for us to find bridges than for us to build walls," said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

Besides trade building, the consulate also hopes to relieve the demand at their Chicago location, helping families gain dual citizenships and holding seminars such as financial wealth building.
