MILWAUKEE — A man's body has been found outside West Milwaukee Intermediate School.
The school district says a student noticed the man's body early Tuesday morning. The student reported it to the main office and authorities were called.
School leaders say the person is an older male, who is not a student or a district employee and has no known association with the school.
The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District wrote the following in a statement:
The West Milwaukee Police were on scene immediately and remained in charge of the investigation. There was no threat to student safety and we are thankful to the student that reported the incident. The school was placed in a temporary hold to avoid students viewing the police activity outside. School returned to normal operation at approximately 10:00 a.m.
The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District is assigning additional school counselors, psychologists, and social workers to West Milwaukee Intermediate School to support students and staff Tuesday and Wednesday.
