WAUWATOSA – Mayfair Mall could see the addition of an upscale, four-star hotel -- according to our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal.
According to a new proposal, the vacant Mayfair Bank Tower will be converted into a hotel developed by Milwaukee-based HKS Holdings LLC.The developer would lease the bank tower building from its current owner, GGP -- the company that owns Mayfair Mall.
The Milwaukee Business Journal reports the news plans include a 28,000-square-foot addition to the old 12-story bank tower building into a 196-room hotel that would include a chef-driven restaurant, a 4,500-square-foot ball room, rooftop meeting space, and outdoor patios.
Kevin Berry, GGP senior vice president of investor relations and public relations tells the Milwaukee Business Journal a final decision has not been made in regards to the future of the Bank Tower site. Both the hotel development and the previously proposed restaurants are among the options the company is currently considering for that property,
If the hotel plans go through, construction could start in May 2018 to convert the tower into a hotel with a completion date of August 2020.The hotel is expected to create nearly 100 full-time-equivalent jobs once up and running.
