Mayor Tom Barrett has invited Milwaukee residents to join him, Budget Director Dennis Yaccarino and Alderman Michael Murphy for a hearing and presentation of the city’s 2021 budget. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m.
“The city’s finances remain challenged by State laws restricting funding of local government to primarily property taxes,” said Barrett in a statement. “Funding the priorities of our residents, no matter what they are, requires a new revenue source like the proposed 1% local sales tax.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts during the meeting. Those who would like to attend the virtual meeting can register here.
The hearing will also broadcast on the City Channel’s cable and online feeds as well as their YouTube stream.
Barrett also invites residents to take the city’s Budget Survey and use theBalancing Act Budget Simulation to share their insights.
