The Marshfield Police Department arrested a man after finding a garbage bag full of puppies in a trash can.
Police were alerted of the sound of kittens coming from a dumpster on Feb. 28. Upon arrival, they found a garbage bag full of eight newborn puppies.
They removed the puppies from the trash and transported them to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.
A 56-year-old man was arrested and taken to the police department where he confessed to discarding the dogs.
He faces charges for mistreatment and abandonment of animals.
The Marshfield Police Department says the puppies are doing well.
